Banned! - A Short Story

Banned!

Mayhem and chaos every where as people tried to get away from the police. There were no guns but the police looked frightening in their suits of black and their huge black shields.

People were crying out in fear and pain as their loved ones were taken away to jail. The people had broken the rules...but, what were the rules exactly?

Trying to stay calm and listening to the cries of the people to get an understanding of what was going on. I made my way into a building where three men were fighting to stay alive, but they were fighting each other. People were turning against their friends. I watched as man number1 shot a dart-like cigarette into his friend's eye which totally annihilated him. The other friend did the same to friend number 1 who quickly held his eye and fainted dead away.

A disgusting thing to watch I made my way down main street. I did notice no one was paying much attention to me but I was scared non the less and thought it better I find shelter. As I sauntered down the main street I saw a group of people ready to attack a woman. On further investigation, I was told that the mayhem started with her child who infected someone. The child had an unknown infectious disease that brought on what looked like hives upon whom ever she touched. I was certain the people were wrong and only needed someone to blame so I moved on.

I found myself in what seemed like a salon and was further surprised when a man came rushing in calling for his daughter. He had what seemed like a circle of large pimples on the right side of his face but they weren't infectious at all. I turned my attentions to a private section of this room where a metamorphosis was taking place, where a man metamorphosed into a miniature woman, very sexily clad in a red lingerie. I thought I was seeing things and that maybe it was some sort of gimmick but it wasn't. The guy was a magician who liked to do stuff like that.

I still hadn't found my answer but the bar/salon looked safe enough so I decided to stay there. Then I realized that the police were confiscating documents and devices. I was now more curious than ever as to why the documents were being taken away.

Then the answer cams as I saw people quickly removing or blotting one word from their documents, and removing one word from their devices. It was amazing that one word could cause such uproar and chaos. That a country could enforce a law that no one must ever use that word. No document or device must be seen with that word. No speech must contain that word. The only good thing was that you could use the “word” in the comfort of your own home and your hand bag would not be subject to search as your bag was your private property. Yes...you could only use the word GOOGLE on your own private property and carry it in your handbag.

Google was banned from this country in a part of Europe, don't ask me the name of the country for this was just all a dream.

Interesting. I realized it was a dream from the very beginning - but police? violence? infectious disease? and Google?

How do you interpret it?

That was fun. I enjoyed reading it and the ending wasn't what I expected it to be. Thanks for the ride.

First of all, when I saw the word banned in the title I had to read it. Then your writing style was so engaging, I felt like I was watching one of those commercials what lots of action. Lastly, interesting to learn that the word Google is banned. You're funny!

Can't change now that I read what kallini said.

But I would go it over again and see where I recognized that it was a dream. Because I still had to wait to ask or see what the ending holds.

All in all a nice piece .

You were able to trip me up at the start through half way. Also maybe it had to do with what I expected, after I saw mayhem and chaos.

Now I am going into the head, see if I can sense the source of the dream. "Google" Interesting.

Blessings Cardisa.

Hi Cardisa.

Nice hub, but there's one thing you can and that good or bad GOOGLE is part of our lives whether we like it or not.

Take care Cardisa.

I don't know, Cardisa. But the title drew me in. I read it to the end - I guess you can count it as a good story.

Hilarious Cardisa! Goodness - your mind can kick up some dream dust! Lol

You know - there are certain things (and drugs ) that can cause technicolor, surround sound dreams. Sometimes when a person has a sleep study we can see quick little bursts of energy during stage 2 sleep....casually they are called drug spindles:). We tested one drug in the lab that caused this....some of the patients were having horrible nightmares from it!!

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Thanks again Kallini, it wasn't really violent. The mayhem I referred to was just the chaos and running away from the police. People running scared. Except for the three friends who turned against each other there were no other deaths.

I took two panadols yesterday for a headache, maybe that had something to do with it. But I usually have very vivid dreams. My last love story came to me in a dream and whenever I have serious writers block I get my ideas through my dreams.

Seriously Cardissa, Google being banned is no dream; that's a nightmare!

I do love how unpredictable it was though.

Another gem.

You are too cool. Cardisa. I was pretty sure this was a dream, although you "could" have been writing about our "Wallstreet" protests. And what a great dream! I wish I had your talent for remembering them. Sitting here minding my own business I just heard a loud thump outside--too loud for a bunny--so I hurried to the door and saw about a dozen large cows trying to eat from my bird feeders! Whoa! At first I tried to shoo them away. They weren't very afraid, so I went inside for my rifle, and of course just shot in the air, but that changed their minds and they left. "Then!" I got on the phone to my neighbor. What a thing to happen when it's almost dark. Good job on your story, my friend!

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Hi James, thanks. Those cows must have been really scared. Do thy belong to someone? You have a rifle? Do you hunt? No I am so curious and excited!

SubRon7 profile image

SubRon7 Level 7 Commenter 6 months ago

There is a pasture just to my east. Normally the cows stay in and I enjoy seeing them and hearing them. Yes, I have a rifle, I don't hunt but like to target shoot, or whatever is neccessary to "dispatch." The neighbors did come right over and took care of their cattle.

I was thinking that if they were wild, then maybe you could have enough meat to last to Christmas 2012!

SubRon7 profile image

SubRon7 Level 7 Commenter 6 months ago

Yep! That would have been cool. Unfortunately, I have never partaken of butchering any animal. Maybe, to survive, I could figure it out. The main thing, probably, is keeping everything "clean."

You are lucky to remember so many details of your dream. It not only makes for an interesting story, but it is great food for thought about what's happening in your life.

FloraBreenRobison profile image

I thought it was a dream too right away. I think I see some hints as to how some of the references to your images got in your dream. Google is obvious and people aren't happy with it. Keywords. Words that will disable your adsense account or ads on a hub. Patty did a story on infection parties. There are plenty of riots going on in the world. As for the man who metamorphised into a tiny woman wearing red lingerie, not sure.

Green Lotus my life is so boring, I think I have these dreams to spice it up a little!

You have a deadly sense of humor here, i didn't fall for the story being real neither, but it was a great one to say the least.

Your writing is always this good, so I sorta expected it before I came back to read another hub of yours. i just truly like the fact that your writing creativity allows you to breach the boundaries of most normal trains of thought, & you can generate such creative pieces as this one.

Thanks for sharing Cardisa Voted up as beautiful.
