Christmas Gift List For Forty Year Old Female

73

By Cardisa

Men Must Read!!

I know there are some guys...er sorry...men out there who have no idea what to get their sister, wife or girlfriend for Christmas. Buying for females forty years and older can prove difficult, so when getting gifts for these females take it from a female at that age. From my point of view I will attempt to help by choosing stuff that I would like.

In general, I love gifts and no gift is too bad, but if someone should ask me what I want for Christmas I would think about two things:

  1. What are the things I like the most
  2. What are the things I need the most

Depending on who is buying the gift I also think about cost. If I know the person's budget then it's easier for me to tell them exactly what to get me. See below for my Christmas wish list.

I am trying to keep the budget under US $200.

My Want List

  • I am a jewelry lover so maybe a nice earring or necklace may make my Christmas special. I don't like synthetic material so the stones must be real. It doesn't have to be diamonds. Any natural stone will do. My favorites are Aquamarine, topaz, emerald, amethyst and sapphire. Aquamarine and topaz are semiprecious but real non-the-less.
  • I love gadgets. I don't have a Kindle yet so maybe a digital reader of some sort will do. I personally prefer the kindle to other readers and getting it from the Amazon store will save some money.
  • My digital recorder broke so am hoping for one. I like to record stuff, helps to keep me organized and as a writer sometimes I can record my ideas if I am not near my computer
  • A nice perfume will always get me smiling. I have to hide my stuff from my fiance because he is not particular about what is written on the bottle (for men or women). So long as I use it, he will.
  • Computer software. I would really like MS office 2011. It has features that my current office software does not have so an upgrade would be nice.
  • Handbags. I am not particular about brands but a Louis Vuitton would be nice.

My want list

  • The necklace or earring. I love hoops drops
  • The handbag. I have tons but have always wanted a Louis Vuitton
  • The perfume. I have perfume I have not even touched yet, but I am a perfume freak like my MOTHER!
  • The kindle. This is a cross between a want and a need but not an immediate necessity.

My need list

  • MS office software
  • The digital recorder
  • computer accessories like a monitor. My NetBook monitor is too small
  • External dvd/cd drive. My NetBook does not come with a dvd/cd drive but I can attach one to it
  • A bathroom scale. I have been gaining weight and must get one soon. I never had a problem with weight before but recenlty I have been steadily gaining.

I don't know how helpful this is to anyone shopping for gifts for females in my age group but I hope this really helps. I have never shopped for someone I don't know, so it's easier for me to give my own personal ideas. The main thing is to know the person you are shopping for so you can give them something they want.

When it comes to Christmas many women would like a gift they want rather than what they need, especially women my age or younger.

...well I already have my Christmas gift sweet dear Carolee - it's you; your friendship, your esteemed status as my hub colleague, and that the fact that we met at all in this big crazy world - and that is a miracle in itself - and yes if you were laying under my Christmas tree in something by Victoria's Secrets - lol - that would be okay too!!!!

Epi, if I was laying under your Christmas tree, I probably be wearing my birthday suit!

Love and hugs and I am very happy to have met you too.

I am sure this will be very helpful to some men out there.

Ahorseback, never listen your wife on her birthday, valentine or Christmas! It doesn't have to be expensive just something you know she will really love. Jewelry always work! Anything else is a matter of her personal tastes. One more thing, on these three occasions, give her something that she wants and not necessarily what she needs and if you can afford it, give her both.

And have I told you lately how I love your soulful gifts of knowledge and wisdom.......I couldn't figure out how to give fan mail if it doesn't hit me in the head!....Hugs......;-}

Usually I wait until the last minute to pick up that special gift for my wife but this year I am going to do better. These are some great ideas and I may try a few out.

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Do your gift shopping early and you will get the gift you want. Sometimes waiting until the last minute means the gift you were planning for might be gone, out of stock and you have to settle for whatever is there.

Great ideas for those that are in need of some. This year, my family has decided to make our own gifts for each other than to buy them. Knowing me, I will wait till the last minute to think of something...LOL!

From a 35 year old who is apparently old for my age (see latest rant): People used to get me books because they know I love to read-but no one knows what I have already read anymore! That's a non-age related gift that usually works, but with me I've read so much...

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Tlpoague, that's a really good idea, but where I come from the only gift that someone might make is Christmas pudding!

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

I love books, I just hate them as gifts. I always prefer to buy my own because people will either give me something I already have or something I really don't like.

Sunnie, we are so different from guys. They want that nice tool set, drill or lawn mover that the can show off to their friends. We want that hand bag or diamond that we can't boast about.

Cardisa - I love the same stuff you do! I'm going to just give this list to my husband and tell him a smart man would use it! Lol.

I just got some of the Sex in the City perfume - I actually like it! My fav is my Mademoiselle Chanel;) love it - in fact I'm gonna go spray some on right now!

Hey I hope that some rich dude send you everything on this list! Haha! Voted up and all that. Hey I want a Louis Vuitton too - I just can't see spending that much on a bag - I'm not rich enough yet:). I'm working on it - I've made 7 bucks on hub! Lol j/k

I always give a little of myself wrapped in a tiny bow. Sad when you think of it. Perhaps this year I should go shopping. Oh me. Hmmmmm

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

RH, I have observed quite a few things, that culture makes no difference once you are female. Women basically like the same things.$50 on a bag inn Jamaica is cheap, trust me, it translates to $4,500 and that's the usual price range for a good regular bag. A brand bag would cost over $6,000 so it's not bad at all.

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Hubert, I wonder what part of yourself you usually give. I am wondering all sorts of parts wrapped in a bow...LOL

Truly, imagination and anticipation are good things that add to great creative writing.

No matter what the topic, you always come through with great writing. Is it bad that this hub made me chuckle a litte bit though?

Oh, but the one at the bottom caught my eye...I may choose Jamaica for my next winter destination to escape from the cold where I am now. Do you have more hubs about planning a trip to jamaica?

Cardisa profile image

Cardisa Hub Author 6 months ago

Hi Stephanie, no it's okay to chuckle here and there. Thanks for the compliment.

Yes I do have other hubs on visiting Jamaica. I'll share them so check your feed.

Cool ideas...dark chocolate nut assortment is one I would add to the list...since there are health benefits to eating dark chocolate, it's a win-win situation!

Nice hub. :-)

Thank you Easylearningweb. I don't know a lot of females who like dark chocolate but I could add it, since I myself am a chocoholic..lol

easylearningweb Level 4 Commenter 2 months ago

Hi again, Cardisa... I used to only eat milk chocolate but then with all the talk about health benefits and dark chocolate I figured I would try it and I really liked it. Now I notice a lot of foods have dark chocolate added, such as granola bars, cereals, etc. So I think it's getting more popular.
