Four Ways I Promote Hubs From My Blogs Using Blogger
74
Hi, I just want to share with you some ideas on promoting your hubs from your blogs. This hub was created in answer to this question "Can I use my hubs for my blogs?" asked by the hubber Infoforum.
The answer to the question is simply no, however, there are several ways to promote your hub using your blogs. You cannot copy your hub to your blog and vice versa because that means you are duplicating your content. What you post here cannot be posted elsewhere and what you have already posted on your blog is not allowed here due to the fact that Google will mark the content as duplicate and your blog or hub will suffer the consequences.
Now that we have got that out of the way lets discuss my title, "Four ways to promote your hubs from your blogs".
1 - Contextual Links
Almost every one knows or use this method.
- The easiest way to post your link on your blog is copying and pasting the URL by going to the hub and copy the URL from the browser navigation bar then pasting it into the blog link capsule.
- Or the alternative is to open the "share" link from your hub, clikc the "link to this page" hyperlink. A box will pop open and you will see the hub's referral tracker and title. You get two options here (a) paste the the link given or (b) copy and paste the html in your blog's html capsule.
2 - Add a Widget
Adding your hubs widget is easy. Go to your profile page. Below your pic/avatar click on "Add (name) widget to your website". A page will appear with instructions. You have the option of sizing your widget the way you want. You can also set the default to latest, hottest or best hubs. You can also change this anytime you want.
You can add more widgets to showcase the different hubs, or the viewer can choose to see hottest, best or latest. This option of promoting your hub is very effective and stands out on your blog because your avatar and username is displayed in a colorful widget.
3 - RSS Feeds
I love to use this option very much because like the widget, more than one hubs are displayed in the feed and you can also choose hottest, best and latest as your options. You can put three RSS for all three options for more exposure.
On your profile right under the "add widget" link, there you will find the RSS feed link, just click it. A page will come up asking you if you would like to add to your Google homepage or Google reader. IGNORE THAT. At the top of your page you will see Your name - latest hubs and a link in green, like this cardisa.hubpages.com/hubs/latest?rss.
You can change the RSS from "latest" to "best" or "Hottest", by just changing the words around.
If you place three RSS on your blog, all the hubs in those feeds will always be displayed as they become availabe and you can just 'set it and forget it!'
4 - Make a Blog Post of your Hub
Now, remember you cannot copy the entire hub there but you can post your hub as a post. I have created a blog specifically for my hubs. View it Here! for an idea how I do it.
It's very easy to do and it is my favorite way to promote my hub on my blog. You can also post your hub on a blog that is closely related in topic. For example my Back to School Hubs are posted on my Online Distant Education Blog.
All you have to do is open the "share button" and click on "Blog This". A box will pop up. It would be easier if you have a Blogspot Blog and signed in. I use Firefox so I don't have to keep signing in so when I do this all my blogs are in the drop down box and I choose the blog I want. I copy the first pragragraph or if the pragraph is very long, I copy about 150 words and past in the box. I type "Continue Reading....." and hyperlink it, copy the URL and past in the link box.
So my blog post has the first few sentences of my hub and a link back to my hub. This is my favorite way of linking my hubs to my blogs but I do use all methods.

Oh wow, Cardisa I'm afraid this is all over my head. I'm still trying to get AdSense to work. But maybe one day I will get brave and figure this blog and widget thing out
Great hub Cardisa!
I'm currently using both - Blogger and Wordpress. I do see traffic from both. I'm excited to hear Wordpress is FINALLY bringing in ads - YES! I like Blogger because it is really easy to organize Adsense, Amazon and our HP widget. However, I have yet to see one single penny from Amazon :(
Thank you for the rss tip - I need to see about updating my Google page with it.
Voted up and across - well done! :)
hello my free SEO
when you rss feed your hubs, do the hubs that you already did go over to the new website?
Thanks Carolee I have been ignoring my blog lately. I need to get back to it. Nice picture.
This is great info, especially #4 about creating a blog specifically for backlinks to your hubs. On my crochet blog, I have a "free resources page" where I have links to all of my crochet hubs, but creating an actual blog for all of my hubs is a brilliant idea. I'm definitely going to look into this one!
I'm surprised you haven't monetized your Blogger blogs with Adsense (great blogs, btw). Is there a reason why you haven't?
RSS feed is still a bit over my head but I am determined to learn how to use it.
I'm bookmarkign this one for future reference. Rated up and (very) useful!
It doesn't matter what picture of me that I use, a person still has the sensation of watching a bull walking away.
Glad to be of service
Okay, I didn't look hard enough for the ads. And I know what you mean about having too many ads. You want to make money but you don't want your site to appear spammy or, dare I say, overly promotional :-).
I thought of creating a Facebook fan page to promote my articles, but I like the idea of using a blogger site better.
And one of the reasons I switched to a wordpress.org self-hosted site for my blog was because Wordpress.com didn't allow advertising. I'm thinking I should have waited a bit, but I can create all kinds of widgets with html code that I might not be able to do with Wordpress.com.
Cardisa - your hubs are so helpful to me. Thanks and keep them coming.
Great advice thanks.
Wow, this was great. I haven never been able to figure out how people promote their hubs. I do not have enough traffic becuse i don't twitter and I do not go on face book much I work have a family and my time is limited. .Good luck with publishing your poetry. Jamiaca is a beautiful place...esp. Negril the resort.
Thank you for the information. When I signed up here I submitted an article that I had submitted to EzineArticles first and found that was a no-no here. I then rewrote the article and resubmitted it but it still says I have a duplicate article? It is not. Some of the ideas are the same but it has additional information and is presented differently than the original article I submitted. I find it confusing in here for a lot of things but I like your ideas about creating widgets and rss feed. Thanks again for the great helpful information.
This is wonderful information. It all gets very overwhelming sometimes. And, like pennywrites, even rewriting sometimes does not get the results you hope for. Thank you for sharing. Voted up and useful.
This hub and its comments contain a lot of useful information.
Hi again,
I changed the title completely using different keywords, changed the associated picture and changed the quote I had used from my original article submission. That seems to have worked just fine. It is actually good to use a different title and different sub category as well as it will attract a different audiance I should think.
Anyway, thanks for your help. Everyone in here is so will to help each other out. That is really nice.
Nice suggestions. I've done almost all these, except # 2. Maybe I'll give it a try soon. Thanks!
Now I learned good information to promote hub. Also came to know about referral tracker. I will try this hereafter. Thanks for the information.
Thank you Cardisa! This is very helpful. I've been shy about cross promoting my hubs on my blogs because I was never completely sure I understood the rules were and I didn't want to violate them! But your hub has clarified this for me and also has some great suggestions!!! Voting Up!
These tips are extra appreciated Cardisa, merci beaucoup!
Exactly what was needed for the blog, thanks for reminding Cardisa. Having trouble posting pics. Go to the dashboard but just can't see how?
Cardisa, ur hub was very informative...will try them out soon as I have publish a couple of hubs more!!! Thank you for the info,,,
Out of these four options, which one do you think passes the most link juice.
Okay, I'll go with the blog posts, thanks. Thanks for that info on contextual links.
I'm about ready to try all of these. Gotta get something started soon.
Hello Cardisa,
It seems you do a little of everything, you are truly an inspiration for others to do more. Even with your busy schedule, you find time to create multiple streams of income. The power of the pen is universal in every business, especially on line. Great hub, very well written, voted up, useful, and interesting :)
Trying to jump start a blog that has been dead for a year. Think you should do a blog about setting up RSS on your blogger. The information on the internet is old or sloppy.
THE RSS FEED BUTTON IS GONE IN HUBPAGES.
Does this mean I can't syndicate?
Why did hubpages do this ?
Sorry to nag, but I think you know everything.
Okay its on the profile.
I've got several blogs to jump start after inactivity. Gonna check this out again. Thanks for being here, Cardisa.

I initially took this advice from MissOlive but I've wrestled with whether to use Blogger or Wordpress. Blogger allows advertising which could be another potential source of income, but Wordpress receives much more traffic which could lead to more income here. It may be a wash either way. Is it legal to copy the first few sentences of a Hub? I've worried about doing this.
