Going Back To School? Beware of Diploma Mills And Fake Schools

It's never easy going back to school after many years. I know this, I spent years researching my best options. I personally wanted to do the distance or online education but found many donts along the way.

Searching for online schools isn't as easy as 1-2-3. There are many options available but there are also many scams along the way.

I was in a position that I needed my Degree quickly in order to qualify for a better position. I had a deadline to meet so I thought I would search for accelerated programs. When you type in Accelerated online Bachelors degree in your browser search, you will be amazed how many schools present themselves to you. In the batch of schools you will be told that you can 'earn' your degree in as little as two weeks or days, even hours.

Curiosity will make you want to look. Mark you, you have never search for a school out of your community much more a school online, so naturally you will wonder how this is possible.

Different online colleges present different options, here they are:-

By far the most popular offer is the life experience degree. This is where it gets tricky. There are legitimate colleges that offer credits for life experience. These credits take into consideration the experience you have in a certain field and the training you have had. These diploma mills however ask you what is your career choice and how long you have worked in this field and from that they offer you your degree with no proof. You can do this completely online in a few minutes. Within two days or so you can have your diploma in your hand. Not only do they offer the diploma but transcripts as well!

Beware of Diploma Mills

Diploma Mills are companies dedicated to providing duplicate, fake or novelty diplomas within a short period of time for a fee.

Characteristics of the diploma mill

1. Operate online or at a remote location
2. Offer diplomas within an unreasonably short period of time
3. No proper examination, research or assessment required
4. No proper accreditation status
5. Accredited by accrediting bodies not recognized by the State department or National department on education, usually these bodies are created by the owners of the diploma mill (easy to figure out with a little research).
