How To Write Better SEO Articles And Content For Search Engine Visibility

During the past few months I have had to learn how to write better SEO content for my hubs and more recently for my clients. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. The truth is I usually just write what flows naturally without much thought about Key phrases or tags. Writing SEO content and SEO articles is not as easy as one two three. I found out there is a good way how to write SEO content, a bad way and a better way to write SEO content. When I decided I wanted to write online and make a living, I had no idea what SEO was, let alone writing such articles. It has been quite a learning experience for me and I have been getting better at writing general articles. I found, however that to be able to earn a decent living I have to be able to write Search Engine Optimized Articles. These are articles or web content that are written a certain way to boost search engine rankings and visibility. Here I will try to explain how to write better SEO content, the way I have learned to.
A bad SEO Article.
This is very simple and easy but not very effective since Google changed its search engine algorithms. Bloggers and webmasters used to use a bunch of key words throughout the article which was mainly fluff and had no particular use or made any sense to the reader. This method is now obsolete as Google is now blacklisting such sites. Don't over-stuff your content with keywords and phrases.

A Good SEO article
After Google changed it's search engine criteria another way of writing SEO was to use the main Key-phrase which is included in the title, at a 2 – 5% ratio. Simply speaking; for every hundred words or so there is one or two keywords or key-phrases. But in so doing the main key-phrase or keyword must be used in the first paragraph two or three times and once in the last. You may scatter the others throughout the rest of the article. If the article is extremely long then make sure the first two or three paragraphs has the majority of the key-phrases along with the last key-phrase for the last paragraph. This method is somewhat effective and a still a good way to write SEO articles.

The better way to write SEO content
By far the most effective way to write SEO content is to use one main key-phrase contained in the title and spread throughout the body of the article, and five related key-phrases also spread somewhat evenly throughout your article. This gives for an even reading and the search engines will see that the entire article is relevant to the topic. This method is the better SEO for content method and should be practiced if you want to gain search engine ranking and traffic. To help me choose relevant and similar key-phrases I use Google adwords keywords tool.

It is also recommended that you bold the key-phrases in the article for Google to pick them up for faster indexing. This article is one of my SEO practice articles and an experiment to see if all I have learned isn't just a trick. I hope to get better at this and as soon as my SEO article writing skills improve I will tell you about it but for now I am sticking with the better way to write SEO content.

Great idea - I'll hide behind you...hehe
I assume the title of a text capsule is still "text" that is scanned. You just never know.
I added to the forum - off to school - I won't be able to log in for several hours. I look forward to see how this discussion evolves. Again, great hub !
Great article Cardisa. I am just starting to learn about SEO and know nothing at the moment. This artice really helped. Thankyou.
Not ashamed to admit I had to look up SEO, may have helped if you treated the acronym like, not every one knew what it stood for.
That said I totally agree with the hub I changed a couple of SEO's, on two of my hubs and doubled their hits.
Thanks for the information. Now if I can put it into practice.
Cardisa, I really like the way you have written this article. Your SEO article was direct, and straight to the point(I like that). I have been writing online for awhile, and still struggle with optimizing my content the SEO way. You have made it a little easier for me to implement SEO into my content. Thank you so much. Voted up!
This is good information - it makes more sense to me to put the keywords throughout the article, but I have heard it was better to make sure it was in the first paragraph. I guess there is no harm in doing both.
Excellent article. When I taught writing in middle school and high school I taught my students to tie the paragraphs of their essays together with key words and phases and that is exactly what you have suggested here in this article. That is good writing and can be applied too SEO content for on-line writing. This is excellent and so informative!
Great article, excellent information. Not certain I am ready to put it into use yet as I still think I write for the sake of my sanity more than anything else. But perhaps one day. In the meantime I will follow your success so I can follow your advice someday.
Excellent article Cardisa. It spells out so simply what to do. Too many other SEO Hubs and articles make it so confusing and tedious and blame Google for confusing the hell out of us. When you realize Google is skewing itself to reward well-written content rather than spam articles it makes it all bearable.
ok, what IS an SEO?
This was a really great article. I am so glad that I read it now as I saw it on the feed, instead of moving it to my to be read file that continues to grow daily. This is a killer month for finding time to read it all. Thanks for sharing your wisdom in this area.
Thanks for explaining the different between good and bad SEO articles. I try to think about SEO and I think I get it right now and then but that is more luck than skill:) Your article made it so much clearer! I am glad I found this article!
Tina
Thank you Cardisa. I've been here about 2 weeks. I've used the keyword tool to see what phrases are popular before I write. As I write I change my wording here and there to include those key phrases. So far, I think it is working :)
Great hub about SEO. The Google algorithm is changing all the time, and it's important to stay educated on the latest updates.
A clever way to show and to tell the proper SEO! Good details and easy-to-follow format. Flag up!
A simple and well written hub. If I were you, I would be proud of myself.
Till now I didn't write articles on SEO basis,I think that is the reason I have very low traffic. This article helped me.I should work on it more. Thanks for sharing Cardisa.
Hi Cardisa, just wanted to add one more voice to the volume of comments to your very useful hub, more of the same please.
Now if we could only find a way to make Google search the internet like a human brain...
Thank you for this useful hub, I've bookmarked it, I still have to learn a lot, I don't know much about SEO. Voted up!
Great job Cardisa--as usual! I have been keeping SEO in my closet. I barricaded the door so that it doesn't come after me...but, if I want to be a successful freelancer, I guess I can let it out to play!!
Voted up and awesome!!
Hello Cardisa,
I like a few others here have been keeping the SEO locked in the basement. You have explained it so simply that I feel encouraged to give it a go.
I have a couple of hubs that only get a few hits a day ( yes I know it's shocking) so they should make good experimental subjects.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for sharing your experiment -- good point about using a variety of relevant keywords.
It's my understanding that subheadings are one of the strongest positions for keywords. Relevant subheads also let the reader see at a glance that the page will answer her questions. Photo captions offer another opportunity for the natural use of keywords.
Hi Cardisa,
I have chosen two hubs for the experiment. One hub is and always has been hot hot hot and the other has been cold for a few days.
I have made similar changes to both and will let you know how they reform.
I will tell you that the dead duck hub is has been ranked 14 on Google for it's whole life so it will be interesting to see what happens. SEO seems to make sense so let's see it in action.
Thank you for the great hub Carolee. You've made the best SEO format very clear. Is it possible for you to post the link you use for the Google adwords keywords tool here. The link I am using shows monthly traffic but not the CPC. Voted up!
I tried to do this to one of my hubs and It really worked. But I just realized what I did now, thanks for your hub! I will read and read this article until I get it right. there is no overnight thing when writing articles that are optimized with different keywords. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Cardisa! Everyone is lucky to have you as a friend. Keep it up :)
Excellent article on SEO with lots of good information.
Thank you for your work on this. This is a very clear article on SEO.
Great, easy to understand article Cardisa - thank you! :)

I like this - great job. SEO and I have a love hate relationship - lol.
I guess when it comes down to it...if we write an effective introduction (with title included), A body of content that supports our title/ keywords and include a summary (with title included). Google would be more apt to keep us in the forefront.
There is something I've always wondered on HP. Perhaps you have come across this along the way - The titles in the text capsules - are these picked up as well? In other words - if we include the keywords in our subtitles will it matter?
Great job Carolee! Voted up and I'll be following along...
Continued best wishes
