Utilizing Google Resources for Google Traffic and Page Rank
72
Google has a lot of resources to help persons who have their own website, blog, RSS feed, content, you name it. They provide these resources that you can access them easily from your Google account. Most likely you will already have signed up with Google if you have an account on Hubpages as Adsense revenue requires an Adsense account.
Google wants you to use their tools, so most of their resources are free. Google knows that the more you utilize their resources, the less you will utilize the competitions resources.
The truth is more people use Yahoo for Email, so when they sign up with Google for Adsense they believe it ends there. The truth is it doesn't. Having a Gmail account could do you good for your websites and blogs including Hubpages.
II have a list of Google resouurces you can utilize for tour Subdomain, Website or Blog.
A Gmail/Google Account for content
This might not seem so important but is is in order to utilize certain Google resources. You account interface will have all your resources available at your fingertips. At the top of your account page you will have a Google menu bar that displays all the features. Click through and you will find what you need.
Images
The first place I look for a photo when I need it for my articles is Google images, that is when I can't take my own photo.
If the image is copyrighted it will state that. If the image is water marked that means it's copyrighted to you cannot use it here on HP. But mostly the photos are free to use. Remember to name your source and write something in the caption for additional tags.
Remember you must check the source of the image to make sure you can use it. Not all images displayed in Google images are free. What you must look for is "free" in the website URL on the the source website, such as "free wall papers" or "free stock images". If not you can email the website to ask permission.
The source of the image is NOT Google Images but the exact URL. I find importing the images work better. That way I give a backlink to the website. I place the source URL under the image so that persons can click and be taken to the website.
Videos
Google videos is now Youtube. For a more interesting looking hub place relevant videos to add a little zest to your article. These videos are free to use and can be accessed either directly from Youtube or through Google videos search.
The exception might be one or two videos but for the most part these videos are allowed to be linked back here.
Google Maps
Already available to you when creating your hub on HP. Add a map to your destination or travel hubs to make it stand out more in Google.
Google Account for Traffic and Connections and Revenue
Blogs
Google blogs are also known as Blogger.com and is available to all for free. Create as many blogs as you like about anything. Place ads, gadgets, photos, videos, just about anything you want in your blog. Link your other websites, blogs or hubpages to your blog to get traffic .
Buzz
Google Buzz is a useful feature located in your Gmail account. You can post your Hubpages links in Google Buzz where others on Buzz can read. They can 'like' and comment on your Buzz too. It's another good way to promote your work.
Groups
Google groups is also connected to your Google account and allows you to participate in discussions on any topic of your choice. Groups is another great way to gain connections through Google.
Google Sites
Free website, allows you to build a free website about anything you want. Pretty easy to build. The templates are pretty good and you can add your own flavour. It took me minutes to set up and every time you save it, it automatically updates to the web. Place Adsense ads and you are good to go.
Google for Research
Reader
Add a URL to your reading list or choose from Google recommendations. Follow your friends blogs, the hubs you want to read or send to others from Reader. Lots of information here. Some of the recommendations are actually good for researching new information for your articles.
Scholar
Scholar is a Search engine/area from Google that allows you to search through articles, legal opinions and journals which include patents. This is a very good resource for researching information for your content.
Other important Google Resources
Adsense
As you well know that if you do not have an Adsense account you cannot earn revenue from Google ads. Place these ads in your blogs and websites to earn. You also earn from impressions (unique organic page views that are not from HP) here on HP. When an ad is clicked you also earn from that directly from Adsense.
Adwords
Adwords is your Google advertising. You pay Google each time someone clicks your ad. Google also allows you to determine how much you can pay per click. It is a good way to advertise your products or services on Google
Analytics
A tracking system that shows you how many views you get, your traffic sources, locations and browser. This system seems a little more comprehensive that Hp trackers as all sources a stated here, where as Hp does not recognize every traffic source you get. In addition to Adsense it also shows you how many clicks you got, but does not calculate payments.
Webmaster tools
You need a website or blog that Google can verify in order to have access to these tools. This is where Google helps you to optimize your website for layout and traffic. If you do not have a website and want access to this tool, write a blog using blogger and verify your account there and your will have access to Webmaster tools.
Adwords keywords search tool
Any one can use this with limitations, but for a more comprehensive use you need to create an Adwords account. You can use this keywords search tool to search for regularly searched for items in Google. I find it very useful. Find relevant keywords and phrases for your hubs.

These are interesting tips to invest in. Most of this stuff I am still sludging my way through. Adwords is kicking my butt at the moment. I can't seem to get it verified. Thanks for sharing this helpful information.
I'm going to bookmark this to re-read later when I'm not falling asleep at the computer! All the tips sound great and I'm looking forward to trying a few.
Hi Hunnie, I have always used yahoo but have only recently noticed different ideas from google so I am going to check them out. Give an old woman a hand here and advise where to check out first. x

One of my favorite is Adwords keyword research tool.
I got a Gmail account so i could have the RSS feed to people i follow on Hubpages. I use it a lot. Thank's for great info.
A great primer. Voted up!
You know I did have Adsense but it had only equaled a dime in several months and I didn't like offensive ads they sometimes put, so I quit but I can tell you I have been very shocked to type in searches and come up on my own stuff! lol So it is good being here to get eventually out there to help with whatever cause you are for. Even personally.
Some interesting info you have I didn't know. I suppose you have to have the ads for the free website? I have two of my own but my husband purchased the program for it and it has had to be put back up twice and we only get one more stab at it so I may have him look at that. I stay so busy writing but I really need to learn to get in and out of my own site to fix things, and things do need fixing, but I thought he did a really good design on it with me choosing somewhat color scheme etc I wanted.
Great hub, voted up and I will be back.

Great information here Cardisa and I have to go check out google buzz as this is something I didn't know about. Thanks
I was wondering what that was about. Thanks Cardisa!
Great information. I'm going to bookmark this hub. I keep learning a little at at time, becoming overwhelmed, forgetting things, etc.... It seems so complicated sometimes. I'll reference this hub again. Thanks! Voted up! Useful, too!
Cardisa-- excellent resource. In fact I tend to work with both Google and Yahoo, and this is a great resource for anyone who wants to know more about Google. One bit of advice, if you want emails private make sure you list that in your settings-- otherwise you might be in for some nasty spam surprises.
Thanks for sharing this hub. I do follow you because you always have excellent informative hubs but I somehow missed this when it was published.
I did not know about Google sites. This sounds an excellent way to start some niche websites for my articles.
I use all the other Google stuff you have written about above. I agree with you that it is worth joining Gmail and using the other Google apps. I find then quick and easy to use. Voted up and useful!
Thank you so much! I have been a Google, gmail, blogger, etc. user for a long time. I'm still trying to take advantage of the many services available. Thanks for your valuable reminders and for the many points you raised that will help me emensely.
You write so well for someone who writes often. Congrats.
Thank you very much for sharing this. I never thought Google could be so versatile!

I've just signed up for Blogger.com. I don't think my interests would fit into one blog-still working on how to advertise mom's artwork effectively and asafely while writing my own work as well-sounds like this site wil lallows me to do that without woorying about being too broad, but I'll see. I'm also looking at wordpress.com because they have easy to use themes that look great and they're free too.
I've bookmarked this hub for another timewhen I need al these idseas. For now, it was fascinating. but if I don't bookmark, I'll forget the information.
